This was my first business sale and I was expecting it to be a pretty bumpy ride. I was very hands on day-to-day in my business so time was never really on my side and I really needed someone to hold my hand throughout the sale.
We, of course, encountered some potentially difficult situations and complications but Chris and Sam handled everything with calmness and efficiency. I was constantly updated and re-assurred throughout the process and despite some very tight deadlines, we made our completion successfully.
It was all relatively seemless. It was a pleasure to work with them and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services to anyone who may be looking to take the plunge.
I have recently completed two acquisitions this year with the support of Chris and Sam at Needle Mackenzie Spencer. Following my MBO of Rubber Safety Hygiene in 2013, an opportunity came along, through retirement, to purchase Louis France in Huddersfield. This deal was delicate for a couple of reasons but partially because the business had been in the Taylor family for over 60 years.
Throughout the process, Sam was both patient and offered the correct advice as required. Due to the sensitive nature of this transaction, the support and advice given by Needle Mackenzie Spencer was superb.
Our second opportunity for acquisition came almost immediately after the purchase of Louis France. This company was also based in Huddersfield. As with Louis France, the acquisition of Distinct Disposables was also due to retirement but in addition, we welcomed a Director of Distinct Disposables to buy a 10 % shareholding in RSH Group.
This deal was a whole different ball game and had a number of complex issues including a supply contract which had a number of challenges. The passion, commitment, professionalism and advice given to me by Chris and Sam was incredible. Needle Mackenzie Spencer also assisted with securing the Finance with HSBC and also assisted with a complex deferred consideration package.
Having now got an appetite for acquisitions, I am sure we will look to some more deals and I can guarantee Chris and Sam at Needle Mackenzie Spencer will be one of our first phone calls. It goes without saying we would certainly recommend them to others.
I asked Chris for advice shortly after I was made aware of a potential acquisition in the engineering sector. The business was profitable and had grown steadily, and had significant potential for growth. He shared my enthusiasm for the project and we worked together to assess the opportunity and develop our initial thoughts. Chris valued the company and prepared the initial offer on my behalf. Once we had gained exclusivity Chris focussed on securing debt and equity finance while I continued to develop the business plan and brought the BIMBO team together. After a somewhat protracted process the deal finally completed fifteen months after my first meeting with Chris, a testimony to not only his deal-making ability but his stamina!
It was a pleasure to work with Chris. He combines his financial expertise with a healthy dose of commercial pragmatism and genuinely is “on your side” during the deal process. It is well known that BIMBO’s are not as easy to conclude as MBO’s or even MBI’s and I was impressed throughout with Chris’s unwavering confidence. I look forward to our next project together.
I was introduced to Chris Sellars when Needle Mackenzie Spencer's sister company, Grey and Green, took over the the accountancy firm I had been using for many years. I asked Chris for his advice on selling my business in order to free up more of my time and raise finances to pursue other business and personal ambitions.

When our opportunity came I literally had no idea how to approach investors, what information they needed, who would be interested, the possible financial options and how to move the buy-out forward to a successful conclusion.

We are engaged to find a buyer for an IT support and telephony business providing customers with a complete IT service from selecting equipment, through to the install and integration. The business has a strong recurring revenue stream through customers renewing their support contracts with them and currently have c. 150 active unique customers providing recurring revenue.
